    Award Season

Also received another message last week that for the third year in a row I have been awarded The Bride’s Choice Award from Wedding Wire.

“We are excited to announce Sweet Pea Studios has won the Bride’s Choice Awards™ 2012. This prestigious award is determined by reviews from your past clients and recognizes the top 5 percent of local Wedding Professionals from the WeddingWire Network.”

Better Tame That Boy ‘Cause He’s A Wild One…

So The Saints won the Super Bowl. Good for them.

Have not been posting lately, just so busy working on multiple projects at once. Also trying to figure out how to incorporate Twitter into everything. Everyone says it’s a good marketing tool, but I do not think a couple really wants to see someone they hire to be posting texts when they are supposed to be working.

    Anyway, stay tuned.

    Update

I know I have not been posting lately.  As usual tied up finishing stuff up for two weddings and compressing to H.264 takes such a long time.  Will have a new wedding up beginning of next week.

    New Look, Same Blog

So the new site has finally arrived! Never thought it would happen. It was supposed to get done in April and it’s now almost September, so you do the math. This is why I have not been updating the blog too much recently.

Finally found someone to get it right. My designer, Leanne, did a great job, so let’s give a shout out to her. She’s very good at pretending that I am not getting on her nerves. If you need someone to do a site for you, I would definitely give her a call, or shoot an e-mail to rather.

The blog will now be found here. I will no longer be updating it on Wordpress. It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s time to move into the 21st century and have just one site instead of two. Most of the older posts have been moved over here as well, so take a look around and see what you think.

    Grand View

Just want to post another quick shot from Kelsa and John’s wedding.  This is from the photo session at the hall the reception was held at, The Grandview.  The hall is on the banks of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie.  The views from the river are probably the nicest I have ever seen at a wedding.  I got there and was like, “this video is going to look awesome.”  The entire reception was held outdoors.

Anyway, this is just a shot I used during the photo session at the hall.  Not much to say about it.  Posting it because I think it shows off the view extremely well, plus I also like how the text I created looks within it.  Just a nice shot.  This is also a good example of the framing in thirds I mentioned in the previous post.

Sorry, but no music with this one.

    Favorite Shot

This is my favorite shot from Jenn and Matt’s wedding.  It’s Jenn getting the finishing touches put on right before the ceremony began.  I love it because it’s just so busy and has a lot going on within it.  One person is doing this, another is doing that.  There’s a lot going on in the background as well that adds to it.  Plus the colors of the dresses go really well with the bride’s dress.  I love busy shots.

I actually got this by accident because I was looking for the groom to put the mic for the ceremony and lo and behold this was going on.  Got maybe 3 minutes or so of it, but it all came out looking really cool so I will be able to make something good out of it.

    Kristen & Dean's Wrap-Up

So I am at the point where I started working on the wrap-up for Kristen and Dean’s wedding.  This is a clip from the start of it.  I am putting it up because I think it came out looking pretty cool despite the fact that there is no music put to it yet.

I especially like the fact that most of it is all shots that would normally be considered unusable, but yet it all works.  That’s why you have to keep the camera running between shots.  I can’t stand it when people shut off the camera setups, you loose a lot of good stuff that way.

Wordpress does something they call “crunching” when upload a clip to the site which always causes it to pixilate when playing the start.  Gotta figure out how to get rid of that.
